HOW TO USE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ENGINE RELEASE
Tecumseh
engine troubleshooting is simple. Tecumseh gas engines are easy
to troubleshoot and simple to repair yourself.
The most common problem with a lawn mower is that it is difficult to start or won't start at all.
Troubleshooting your starting problem should require no more than five steps, listed below.
1. Check the fuel tank: make sure the mower has fuel.
2. If the fuel in the tank is old, leftover gasoline from last year, you should drain the fuel tank and fill it up with fresh gasoline.
3. Check to make sure you have the throttle set on "Start" or "Run".
4. Remove the spark plugs. A few pulls on the starter cord will show you whether or not you have a spark. Make sure you have a good one. Or if the spark plug is dirty and has carbon on it, clean it and re-install it. If that doesn't work, you will need to replace the spark plug in your Tecumseh gas engine.
5. The mower may not be getting fuel to the engine. Tap the side of the carburetor several times in an effort to unstick the float. If this doesn't work, the fuel filter might need to be replaced.
Usually routine maintenance is all that is required to keep Tecumseh motors running. If you cannot get yours going after following the above, maybe you need a trip to your local Tecumseh engine repair shop.
